Why I’m Starting a Blog

I have an absolutely terrible memory. Truly. I’ll be halfway through a movie and a scene or song will suddenly trigger a flashback. “ah-HA! I HAVE seen this before!” Everyone who knows me well knows about my terrible memory. Some say it’s a blessing because I get to experience things again with the same wonder as the first time.

I like to think my terrible memory is part of me for a reason. Maybe my crazy-big-idea-problem-solving-analytical thoughts take up too much space in my head so there’s only a tiny area left for memories. Maybe it’s a sign to live less in the past and more in the present. Whatever the reason, I’ve at least come to understand which memories I’d like to keep and which ones I’m glad I no longer remember.

That’s one of the reasons why I’m starting a blog. I want to keep more of the memories that I know I’ll want to look back on. I want a record of my growth and accomplishments, personal or professional, so any day I’m feeling like I haven’t done anything with my life I’ll be able to reference this space.

It’s also a space to practice being a better communicator, and wrangling the jumbled thoughts from my brain into a coherent message. Ideally I’ll also touch upon ideas I’ve come across from people who inspire me and flesh out a way to apply the nuggets of wisdom to my own life.

Join me on the journey to self-remembrance! I’m sure it’ll be an entertaining ride.
